HUGE thanks first and foremost to the cheerleaders for all your hard work and effort in preparation

especially the duet girls who were there on Friday (Mrs M said you were brill!).
The competition was extremely tight - it came down to 1/2 marks between both duets and squads for

and Stacy (Senior) for all your hard work in preparation for the comp and on the day too!
HUGE thanks again goes to the Chaperones (Mrs Gallagher, Mrs Paterson, Mrs Siddle, Mrs Corbett,

happy in between!

It makes all the difference to them to know you are all there for them!
Finally (and most importantly) to Mrs M. The girls would not have been at the competition without
her help. I really appreciate all her hard work and effort in preparation and at the comp too.

Mrs Mackie will attend the competition with squads and duets.
As soon as any details for the competition are released they will be posted on the website, so please
check regularly to keep yourself up to date.
FUN, FUN, FUN!
Please remember that cheerleading is supposed to be FUN!
Recently it has been brought to my attention that so called "friendly competition" with other cheerleaders/squads
is again getting out of hand. This happened in the run-up to the last competition and takes the fun out of cheerleading
and the associated competitions.
I hope that ALL Scottish Starlets Cheerleaders are not drawn into comparisons between ourselves and
others. We (teachers, squad leaders, cheerleaders and parents/carers) should all be enjoying the actual cheerleading
and NOT worrying about other people's opinion on what all the Scottish Starlets do so well - Cheerleading!!
If any issues do come to you attention, please contact either myself (Mrs Douglas) or Mrs Mackie
(in my absence).
MATERNITY COVER
Most cheerleaders are now aware that Mrs Mackie has been attending all cheer classes since the Christmas
break. Mrs Mackie will run the Scottish Starlets cheerleading classes when Mrs Douglas is on maternity leave and until
then will be getting to know the girls at Monday classes!
Mrs Douglas will return to classes as normal after the Summer holidays.
EXAMINATIONS
The next exam centre with the Myra Mackie School of Dance will take place on Sunday 9th March 2008
at Pumpherston Institute Hall. Cheerleaders will be invited to sit an exam if appropriate. There will be another
exam centre in May for those not ready to sit exam in March.
FLUFFIES
New fluffies will be purchased from the Scottish Starlets fund for the Senior squad in time for the
forthcoming Championships. Measurements will be taken this Monday 21st January, please ensure that you are all at class.
PAYMENT REMINDER

to Scotcheer for processing. If you have any questions/problems with this please see Mrs Douglas ASAP.
SPECTATORS TICKETS
Spectators tickets have now been ordered. NO more orders will be accepted. I would like
to thank everyone for getting the money for tickets in on time and again what a fantastic support we will have at the competition!
THANKS
Thanks again to Mrs Eyles and Mrs Gallagher who successfully raised over £220 for the Scottish Starlets.
This money will be used to purchase outfits/poms for future competitions.

THANKS
I would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thanks to everyone who supported the Scottish Starlets at the Championships
in Dundee. You were all brilliant, making lots of noise in support of the girls! I am sure you were all very proud.
I would also like to thank all the chaperones, without them the day would not have gone so smoothly! A HUGE thanks
to Michael especially for helping to keep me as calm as possible and to Mrs M, Max and Mags for all their support and help
throughout the day.
See the picture below - one of our youngest supporters!

CONGRATULATIONS!
Well done to all the Scottish Starlets! You were all fantastic at the Scottish National and

another squad.
See you all from 9am!
DUETS
Jenna McWilliams and Amy Waddell were fantastic today! They came 5th out of 17 duets competing
in the Junior Dance Duets Category. What an amazing acheivement for your first duets competition girls! Everyone
is extremely proud of you!
